From eclectic and multi-stylistic subliminally, the building that is home to the Government of the Dominican Republic is a work that conceptually is inserted in the middle of Caribbean cultural, multi-racial, ethnic and linguistic group, reflecting their strong presence throughout the load influence and political histories inherited from Europe.

In 1939 the Italian architect Guido D'Alessandro began, at the request of the dictator Rafael L. Trujillo Molina, the preparation of plans of the National Palace, a job that took just under three years due to the elaborate each classroom.

Building work began on February 27, 1944, on the occasion of the centenary of the Republic, and was inaugurated on August 16, 1947.

The Presidential Palace holds a domed crown homer on a drum and all the facades are perforated rhythmically by a profusion of windows and doors that lighten the orthogonal stylized massiveness of its neoclassical formalism.

The majestic main entrance is emphasized by a foreign lobby toward the south, leaving a decorated pediment reliefs by high and sustained double-height colonnades.

The interiors of the National Palace are characterized by the influence of a classical style, and by the use of a variety of national and foreign material within which are the centuries-old marble and mahogany.

In the decoration and ornamentation of the different rooms were used materials like bronze, iron, plaster and steel, which were masterfully crafted, giving each room a distinct atmosphere of great beauty and harmony.
